About Cranncheol

Cranncheol Publishing is an independent publisher with a focus on ecological, social justice, and spiritual themes. We publish fiction, nonfiction, and poetry of any genre that is inspired by these themes. However, our emphasis is on speculative fiction. This includes climate fiction, science fiction, fantasy, horror, weird fiction, supernatural fiction, superhero fiction, utopian and dystopian fiction, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction, and alternate history.

Location

Our main office is located in Carbondale, Illinois, a college town known for its wild spirit, conscious subculture, and scenic location surrounded by the natural beauty of the Shawnee National Forest.

Submissions

We are not accepting submissions for print publication for the remainder of Spring 2018. However, we are considering several print and online-only projects for future development. If you live in or near Southern Illinois, or have an interest in the themes and genres mentioned above, or both, please contact us.

Fun Facts

Cranncheol was founded on May 8, 2013. This date was chosen to commemorate the Inland Hurricane of May 8, 2009.

“Cranncheol” means “Treesong” in Irish (Gaeilge). It was named after our founder and first published author, Treesong.
